S017166 LITHUANIAN VOLUNTEER'S SLEEVE SHIELD.
(Landeschilde)BACKGROUND: In 1943 an attempt was made to raise a SS Lithuanian volunteer with no success. Eventually, in 1944, a force was raised know as the LTC (Lithuanian Territorial Korps) under Lithuanian command. The troops where eventually delegated to defending Luftwaffe airfields.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: German made, printed, (silk screened), identifying sleeve shield consists of a scalloped topped, pointed bottom, shield shape base with three diagonal bars in yellow, green and red with a narrow black outer border. The shield is still on its original factory backing. Scarce.
