S015170 FEUERSCHUTZPOLIZEI EM/NCO’S BAYONET WITH FROG. (Faschinenmesser mit Seitengewehrtasche)

BACKGROUND: As with all Polizei agencies in Germany the Feuerschutzpolizei, (Fire Protection Police), came under the auspices of Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler in his position as Chef der Deutschen Polizei im Reichsministerium des Innern, (Chief of the German Police in the National Ministry of the Interior), effective on June 17TH 1936. Newly introduced regulations in July 1936 attempted to bring about uniformity in dress for all Feuerschutzpolizei and also established standardized side arms. The new side arms, official designated, Faschinenmesser, (Machete), were introduced in two lengths with a short model for Officer ranks and a longer model for EM/NCO’s ranks.
