S005879 "DEUTSCHLAND" EM/NCO'S CUFFTITLE. (Ärmelstreiffen)

BACKGROUND: The SS-VT, SS-Verfügungsrtruppe, Standarte 1, (SS-Special Purpose Troops 1ST Regiment) was allotted the honorary title, "Deutschland", at the Nürnberg rally in September 1935, and in November 1935 personnel of the Standarte were authorized wear of a cufftitle with Gothic script. In October 1939 the Standarte became a component of the newly formed SS-VT-Division (mot.), which would eventually evolve into the 2. Panzer-Division "Das Reich". On transfer to the 2. Panzer-Division "Das Reich" personnel of the Standarte retained the right to wear the cufftitle. In December 1939 the script on the cufftitle was altered from the earlier Gothic style script to Latin style script. The Standarte underwent three name designation alterations during its time of service, with it receiving its final designation as SS-Panzer-Grenadier-Regiment 3 on October 22ND 1943.
