N019081 HJ WINTER SHIRT. (Winterbluse)

BACKGROUND: Regulations of 1937 introduced a dark blue winter uniform for the Hitler Youth, similar to that previously worn by the DJ, comprised of a pull-over jacket and long trousers closed at the ankles, as well as a ski cap similar to the "Bergmütze" worn by the army. It was worn with the standard belt, buckle and cross strap.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Heavy navy blue wool/rayon blend, winter pullover shirt. Shirt features a four button front vertical closure plaquet with single metal hook and eye at neck. Shirt has two pleated patch breast pockets with scalloped button down flaps. Straight cut tail skirt bottom. Lay down collar. Sleeves with four tapering darts at cuffs, small vertical inside seam slashes and dual button closure. All original buttons and stitching. HJ "737" shoulder straps are hand sewn on. One of the "screw on" shoulder strap buttons is missing but the bottom portion is still there, so it would be an easy fix. Very nice BeVo HJ armband with original hand stitching to the left arm. Shirt roughly size 42" chest. Shirt was worn over the standard brown shirt and tucked into the winter pants. Faded oilcloth HJ/RZM tag.
