N018982 TRANSPORTSTANDARTE "SPEER" EM/NCO'S COLLAR TAB. (Kragenspiegel)

BACKGROUND: Hitlerís architect Albert Speer was appointed as General Building Inspector in 1937, after which he established a construction staff and a motor transport group, the latter drawing most of its personnel from the NSKK, "National Sozialistisches Kraftfahr Korps" (National Socialist Motor Corps). After the invasion of the Soviet Union, in June of 1941, the transport "Standarte" was enlarged to become Transport-Brigade "Speer," with para-military sub-divisions into Regiments, Battalions and Companies. Following the death of Armaments Minister Fritz Todt, Speer assumed his position and amalgamated, in July of 1942, Transport-Brigades "Todt" and "Speer" into "Transportgruppe Todt." In October of that year, it was renamed "Transportgruppe Speer." A further re-organization began in June of 1944, creating "Transportkorps Speer," which was no longer associated with the NSKK, but came under the command of the Wehrmacht.
