BACKGROUND: The DRKB, Deutscher Reichskriegerbund (German National Veteran’s Association), was originally formed during WWI, and was based on the DKB, Deutscher Kriegerbund (German Veteran’s Association), originally formed shortly after the War of 1870-1871. The DRKB also adopted the DKB’s nickname, "Kyffhäuserbund," after the Kyffhäuser mountain where a large war memorial monument had been built. In 1921 the DRKB experienced a large growth spurt as it absorbed other small veteran’s organizations. The DRKB organization was absorbed itself into the NS-RKB in March 1938.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: The 13cm x 23cm, printed cotton pennant is comprised of a red field, upon which is the form of an iron cross in white, with each of its arms articulated in black, and the black silhouette of the Kyffhäuser monument against the white circular center of the cross.
