N009495 1939 "OST HANNOVER" PROVINCIAL DAY BADGE. (Gautag Abzeichen)

A roughly oval shaped badge, 2 1/2" in overall height, to whose top is a spread winged eagle with a wreathed, mobile swastika in its talons. Beneath the eagle is the profiled view of a Volkswagen, with "KdF Wagen" impressed to its side, above a scroll with "Gautag" (Provincial day) to it. Beneath the scroll is the image of a ship, and beneath that is a horizontal bar with "Ost Hannover 1939" (East Hannover 1939) to it. To the base of the obverse is the image of a pre historic Dolmen flanked by trees. Seen through the perforated obverse is a red brown colored leather backing crimped to the reverse, which has a horizontal pin back device glued to it.
