N007879 BAHNSCHUTZEPOLIZEI ABTEILUNGSFÜHRER’S COLLAR TAB. (Kragenspiegel)

BACKGROUND: The Bahnschutzepolizei, (Railway Protection Police), was established by the Deutsches Reichsbahn, (German Railways), in 1933 with voluntary personnel drawn from the SA and SS. The Bahnschutzepolizei were tasked with protecting the national railway network. Originally Bahnschutzepolizei personnel wore the same navy blue uniforms as the Deutsche Reichsbahn personnel but this was eventually changed to blue/grey uniforms. In 1941 new insignia was developed and issued to Bahnschutzepolizei personnel.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Second pattern, (circa 1941) Ableilungsführer’s collar tab for wear with the closed neck tunic. Collar tab is constructed of black velvet with hand embroidered wing wheel and outer edge border trim in silver wire threads. Removed from a uniform.
