BACKGROUND: The Postschutz (Postal Protection) organization was established in March 1933 as a uniformed organization tasked with the security of the national postal and telecommunications systems. Personnel were mainly recruited from the Polizei, the SA, and the SS. The Postschutz was controlled and administered by the Postmaster General’s Office, until March 1942, when it became subordinate to the Allgemeine SS.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Stamped alloy construction, box buckle features a pebbled outer field with a high relief, embossed Postal eagle with flared wings, clutching a signal horn with lightning bolts. The eagle is compassed by dual rope borders and the script, "Postschutz". Buckle measure 47mm x 63mm. The reverse of the buckle is a mirror image of the obverse and the brazed buckle catch, prong bar and prongs are all intact.
