PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A 5 3/4" x 8 1/8", softcover, 176 page book, to whose front cover is an illustration, set against a mountainous background, of the author in his German army uniform, with his name to the left and the title, "Goodbye Transylvania," above. The autobiography chronicles the exploits of a young Transylvanian who, to avoid be drafted into the Rumanian army, joined first the German Luftwaffe, and later their Waffen-SS, fighting both the Russians on the eastern front, and then the Americans during the Battle of the Bulge. He was captured by the Russians after the street fighting in Berlin, and escaped from them twice, the last time crossing the Alps on foot to surrender to the British. Sixteen pages of black and white photographs illustrate the text. Light surface scratching is evident to its covers, there is light soiling to its title page, and light wear to its copyright page, which appears to be a printing error. By Sigmund Heinz Landau, published by Breedon Books, 1985
