The spade, which measures approximately 56cm long is comprised of a slightly pointed metal head with rivetted metal tangs extending from its horizontal base, following the contours of the vertical wooden handle front and back. "US" may be seen impressed to the inside tang. A similarly rivetted metal tang to the base of the vertical handle fixes a short, horizontal wooden handle to it. "US" is impressed to the vertical wooden handle, between the sets of tangs. Included is an un-issued, webbed cover that is marked "Brauer Bros. Mfg. Co. 9-18" as well as "U.S."
