BACKGROUND:
The RCAF fight helmet was originally almost the identical pattern to the British "B" pattern helmet. There where two different pattern produced during the war, with the later patter being a tighter design. Both helmet where worn during the entire span of the war from 1939 to 1945.PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Second pattern RCAF fight helmet made with a medium brown leather exterior and a chamois lined interior. To the rear of the helmet is a 13cm vertical adjustment slit with a short leather strap and buckle to one side though which the leather adjustment strap is threaded. There are two 7cm leather straps with original snaps on the reverse of the helmet used to secure the flight goggles. The two piece chin strap consists of a gripper buckle sewn to one side and a 20cm long by 2cm wide leather strap to the other. Roughly size 58/59.
