C067367 CZECHOSLOVAKIAN Vz. 24 COMBAT BAYONET AND SCABBARD. A Czech model 24 bayonet whose single fullar, unsharpened blade measures approximately 29.5cm in length and 43cm in overall length with its original scabbard. Its bright steel, contoured birdís head pommel has a stud guide and locking stud. Its contoured wooden grips are fixed by two plain-headed bolts and slot-headed washers. Visible through the rectangular cuts to the base of each grip is a circular cleaning hole. The grips have several light nicks to them, and are lightly age darkened. The steel cross guard had a circular muzzle, but has been removed leaving "large ears" remaining as was the practice during the beginning of WWII by Germans who captured the Czech bayonets. An encircled "Z" is stamped on the ricasso that indicates it is a possible export version manufactured by Zbrojovka Brno. The sheet steel scabbard has a raised frog lug that is marked "CSZ" and "E", a rampant lion, and "26" indicating its date of manufactre as 1926. The scabbard is shows surface scratching and light pitting.
