C057484 U.S. VIETNAM WAR SPECIAL FORCES GROUPING.

U.S. Vietnam Special Forces DSC Estate Group. Three items which belonged to Lieutenant Peter Johnson, a Special Forces officer who was killed in action on February 13, 1968 at Quinhon , Binh Dihn Province, South Vietnam. Johnson was assigned to Detachment B-22, Company B, 5th Special Forces Group, which held the small Special Forces base at Quinhon. The three items are his black silk "Vietnam Tour Jacket," made in Vietnam, with high quality hand embroidery throughout, and ornate "QUINHON VIETNAM 1967" embroidered on the back, his rare Quinhon Special Forces shoulder patch, and his 1967 dated (government contract) Special Forces green beret with the distinctive 5th Special Forces Group beret flash and an early high quality metal Special Forces insignia. Lieutenant Peter Johnson was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross (DSC) posthumously for his gallantry in combat in February 1968. Set includes a copy of his DSC citation and information on his service. Received from a family member.
