C055883 U.S. 4TH ARMY SHOULDER FLASH.

BACKGROUND: The "Fourth Army" was originally organized in 1922 in New York City, NY as reserves. In 1932 it was allotted into the regular army, but as an inactive unit. It was not until 1933 that it was activated with headquarters in Presidio, San Francisco California and on January 1, 1957 was designated the Fourth United States Army. They did not serve overseas during WWII, but remained in the United States as defense of the West Coast.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A red thread badge with a central white four leaf clover to the center. It measures approximately 7cm x 8cm square with the original backing. The white thread shows soiling.
