C049969 U.S. NAVY BLUE JUMPER GROUPING.
BACKGROUND
: The United States Navy traces its origins to the Continental Navy, established during the War of Independence by the Continental Congress on 13 October 1775, on that day they voted to fit out two sailing vessels, armed with ten carriage guns, as well as swivel guns, and manned by crews of eighty, and to send them out on a cruise of three months to intercept transports carrying munitions and stores to the British army in America. The uniform regulation for the Navy was first introduced by the secretary of War on August 24th, 1791. It was not until August 27th, 1802, that blue and gold became the official colors of the Navy. The anchor became the official symbol for the navy in 1588 when Britain adopted it. The United States took the symbol because of the strong influence of the British and their Naval traditions.PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:
