C049167 BRAZILIAN M1908 KNIFE BAYONET WITH SCABBARD. The M1908 was produced from 1908-1914 for Brazil by DWM Germany by many manufactures. The bayonetís blued, contoured birdís head pommel has a stud guide and stud, and a hole drilled straight through it. The age-darkened, lightly surface scratched, contoured wooden grips are fixed with two screw-headed rivets. The blued, contoured metal cross guard has a circular muzzle guide with a downward quillon that is stamped with a sting of numbers. It is a single fullar, unsharpened blade that measures approximately 11.5" or 23cm and measures 17" or 43cm in itís entire length. The scabbard is comprised of thick, blackened leather, with its vertical seam to the reverse, and contoured metal fittings to its top and bottom. The fitting to the top has an oval lug that is marked "FI" or "Fabrica de Itajuba" that is a Brazilian state arms factory. This indicates that the scabbard is Brazilian made. Both bayonet and scabbard show usage and wear.
