C046187 WW2 "CANADIAN SEAFORTH HIGHLANDERS" GLENGARRY.

BACKGROUND: The Glengarry’s origins may be traced to Alasdair MacDonell (1771-1828) of Glengarry, Scotland, and was adopted by the British Infantry in 1868, and the Canadian militia in the 1870s. It was worn on dress occasions, by traditionally Scottish Infantry Regiments, during both world wars.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A black woven wool "wedge" cap has a red wool Touri (pom-pom) to its crown, black rayon edging along its base, and dual black rayon ribbons, with swallow-tail cut ends, extending from its reverse. A 3cm tall diced band is along its sides, in white, red and black, over the left front of which is fixed a black rayon rosette. A stamped, alloy badge measuring approximately 6cm x 6cm is pinned to the left side of the cap depicting a stags head with a banner that is inscribed "Cuidich’n Righ" or "Aid the King" to its bottom. Nice large size, roughly a 60.
