C045283 "ROYAL CANADIAN ENGINEERS" CAP BADGE.

BACKGROUND: Dating back as early as the 1600's, it was not until 1903 that a permanent corps was organized. In 1904 the corps was honored by King George VI by adding "Royal" as a prefix. When World War 2 was declared in July 1939, RCE units were reorganized and re-equipped in December of the same year and dispatched to England.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A stamped brass badge that is 4.5cm in diameter that features a King’s crown surmounting a stylized belt with "Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense" (Evil To Him That Evil Thinks) embossed upon it, the belt encircling the monogram "GR VI," and a wreath of Maple leaves surrounding the belt, to the bottom of which is scrolled "Royal Canadian Engineers." Dual loops are to its hollow-backed reverse.
