C041975 RCAF OVERSEAS SERVICE TUNIC. A three-quarter length, blue-grey wool service tunic with four exterior pockets, a four-button single-breasted front closure, open neck lapels, and a lay-down collar. The pleated patch breast pockets have scalloped, button-down flaps, and unbuttoned, horizontal slash hip pockets have straight-edged flaps. The brass buttons to the breast pockets, and to the front closure, are each embossed with a King's crown over an eagle in flight, with "R.C.A.F.," for Royal Canadian Air Force," beneath. Above the left breast pocket is a three place ribbon bar that represents the 1939-45 Defence Medal, 1939-45 War Medal and the Volunteer Medal with maple leaf. To either hip are only one of the two, integral steel belt hooks. A vertical tail skirt vent rises from the base of the reverse of the tunic. The belt has a dual-pronged brass buckle and the right end has three pair of corresponding doubled eyelets to it and one man made pair. Sewn to each shoulder is a flash with the word "Canada" with eagle in flight below. The interior is lined in light blue cotton from above the pocket bags to the white cotton lined sleeves. A wound dressing pocket may be seen to the base of the forward right panel. The chest measures approximately 40". The wool shows typical knapping, but otherwise is in good condition.
