C038071 SWISS MODEL 1887 SAWBACK PIONEER BAYONET AND SCABBARD.
The bayonet has a single fuller, 47.5cm long steel blade with a 26.5cm saw on the spine and a bakelite handle. Stamped to the ricasso of the sharpened blade is the makers name "S.J.C. Neuhausen". The pommel has a "T" slot mortise with a spring steel latching arrangement and the crosshatched bakelite handle is attached by four round headed steel rivets. Stamped to the crossguard are the numbers "17939". The leather scabbard measures approximately 50cm long. Very nice clean condition.
