BACKGROUND: The "Unghird" (Youth-followers) was the Norwegian "Nasjonal Samling" (National Unity) party’s equivalent to the German Hitler Youth, and was open to males between 14 and 18 years of age. It was a uniformed group and an armband was worn by all personnel, with variations in color determining officer or enlisted ranks.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Machine woven insignia of the "Nasjonal Samling" party. The insignia is comprised of the golden "sun cross" of Saint Olaf, patron saint of Norway, against a red background and encircled by a narrow golden border, with upward-pointing golden swords behind the left and right horizontal arms of the cross.
