The 43rd Cameron Highlanders of Canada disembarked in France on February 22, 1916 where they fought as part of the 9th Infantry Brigade, 3rd Canadian Division in France and Flanders until the end of the war. Included in this grouping is a Highlander Tunic, Cameron Highlander kilt, socks and P08 web belt.

(1) A Highland cut tunic with a five brass button front all faced with "43rd Cameron Highlanders of Canada" buttons that lead to a pair of hooks and eyelets to the neck. A pair of pleated breast pockets and a pair of hip pockets all have button flaps. A pair of integral, button shoulder straps are to the neck that bear "Canada" brass shoulder tiles. A pair of 43rd Cameron Highlanders collar dogs are to each collar point. Most of the buttons look to retain their original thread. To each arm, just below the shoulder seam are the formation badges for the 43rd Cameron Highlanders. The interior is unlined and bears a small fragile label that reads "Serge Service Dress, Height 5ft 11 and 6ft, Breast 38 to 39, Waist 33 to 34" and the manufacture "D. Joseph & Sons, Leeds, 1918" along with a contract number. Also present to the interior is an ink stamping showing the tunic was War Department approved.

(2)The box pleat kilt is of the Cameron tartan that has a white wool to the waist, two herring bone twill tapes and a 34" waist. The kilt measures approximately 26.5" in length. Very nice.

The last two items are a pair of green wool socks that has had one of the heels repaired. The foot measures approximately 11" long. They show typical usage and wear indicative of such an item. The P08 webbed belt has a faint ink stamp that shows the manufacture and date (M.E Co. 1915), an "M" and a broad arrow.

Nice clean grouping that shows typical wear.
