C035169 RCAF SUMMER TROPICAL SHOULDER FLASH.
BACKGROUND: When serving on Canadian soil, branch insignia was worn without "Canada" flashes. When serving overseas and not in Canada, all Canadian military personnel wore "Canada" shoulder flashes to distinguish themselves from other Commonwealth troops. Several colors of insignia were used by the RCAF depending on the uniform worn, light blue on a dark blue backing for air force uniforms, red on khaki-drill for battle dress or great coats and red on khaki-tan for summer uniforms
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A rectangular khaki-tan cotton patch with a light weave tan backing, about 9cm wide by 4cm high, with red machine embroidered RCAF eagle (that has two eyes). Appears to have been removed from a uniform.
