BACKGROUND: 150,000 women served in the W.A.C. during WWII, who were the first women other than nurses to serve with the U.S. Army. Although acceptance by the Army and the public was difficult it was due to these women that fighting a two-front war of supplying men and material was accomplished. Their recruitment allowed the supplement of resources needed in the military and industrial sectors.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A standard, tan light cotton overseas cap with yellow and green piping. The cap is lined with a silk/polyester sweatband. A tag sewn inside indicates the size "21/12" The cap does not appear to have been issued or worn.
