BACKGROUND: On August 13, 1941, to release men from non-combatant roles in the Canadian Armed Forces and to expand the war effort, the Canadian Women’s Auxiliary Corps was formed. It was not until March 1942 saw the induction into the Canadian Army as the C.W.A.C. Their roles were to include secretaries, mechanics, cooks, etc. Most women served in Canada, but some served overseas. 

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A pair of brown leather boots with 11 pair of painted, metal eyelets, wooden stacked heels. The boots measure approximately 16cm tall from the top of the heel. The smooth soles are each marked with a "C" broad arrow, as well as the size "5M". The interior of each boot is stamped to the foot with the manufacture "Perth Shoe Co., Limited, Perth, Ontario" as well as a date for 1943. The leather to the toe shows scratches and creasing, while the interior appears almost pristine. The soles show general wear. The boots have a foot measuring approximately 24.5cm long.
