C002770 U.S. WWI M1910 ENTRENCHING TOOL. A first war entrenching tool, which measures approximately 56cm in overall height, is comprised of a pointed metal head with riveted metal tangs extending from its horizontal base, following the contours of its vertical wooden handle front and back. "US" may be seen impressed to the inside tang. A similarly riveted metal tang to the base of the vertical handle fixes a short, horizontal wooden handle to it. "US" is impressed to the vertical wooden handle, between the sets of tangs.
