C000281 USN RADIOMAN’S SLEEVE INSIGNIA.
EXTREMELY RARE WW2 U.S. Navy Radioman sleeve rank for the Marine Corps uniform. U.S. Navy enlisted personnel serving in Marine Corps commands wear the Marine Corps uniform with their Navy insignia. The best known example of this is Navy Corpsmen, enlisted medical personnel assigned to the Marine Corps because the USMC does not have a medical branch. (Navy officers typically wear their Navy uniforms). During WW2, a very small number of U.S. Navy radiomen were assigned to special Marine Corps units such as JASCO (Joint Assault Companies), (USN) Comm Unit 41 (assigned to the 3d Marine Division), III Amphibious Corps Signal Battalion on Bougainville, and USMC Beach Parties. This is a high-quality, thickly-embroidered Navy insignia rendered on Marine Corps material in Marine Corps colors. It is by far the rarest of all WW2 U.S. Navy insignia.
