C070368 U.S. M1916 COLT PISTOL HOLSTER.
BACKGROUND:The standard holster for the M1911 Colt pistol was first developed in 1916 and remained in production for the US Army all the way to 1945.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Brown leather holster with blackened brass fittings. The top fold-over flap has "US" within a horizontal oval embossed to it and single stud hole. Both the front and reverse base of the holster body has a brass ventilation grommet. The reverse features a riveted leather section with two vertical slashes to draw a belt through, surmounted by a brass hook for the same purpose. Between the vertical slashes is impressed "CRUMP 1942". The interior of the holster has a built-up section, evidently for positioning the pistol more securely. All of the stitching is intact. Leather is age darkened from use. Nice worn example that saw use.
