C018373 FINNISH COMMEMORATIVE MEDAL OF THE WAR OF LIBERATION.

This award was first authorized by the Finnish Senate on September 10, 1918. The very first issue of these medals is of silvered iron. This item is one of those first issue silvered iron medals and is a WWI vintage award. The blackened 3 cm diameter medal is suspended from a blue and black silk ribbon. To the front is the Finnish Coat of Arms, while the reverse shows the Cross of Liberty with a raised gauntleted arm and a mailed arm, as well as the number "1918". The ribbon shows light/moderate usage and wear.
