C009372 RAF SERVICE TUNIC AND CAP. A three-quarter length, blue-grey barathea service tunic with four exterior pockets, a four-button single-breasted front closure, open neck lapels, and a lay-down collar. The pleated patch breast pockets have scalloped, button-down flaps with a metal snap to each corner, and large button flap patch pockets to the hip. The brass buttons to the breast pockets, and to the front closure, are each embossed with a King's crown over an eagle in flight. A vertical tail skirt vent rises from the base of the cloth belt that is affixed to the reverse. It has a large square brass double prong buckle with a snap to the belt to keep it flat. A single watch fob pocket is also to the front and sits below the belt when fastened. Sewn above the left breast is a RAF Pilots wing with single ribbon bar representing the Distinguished Flying Cross. The interior is lined in blue rayon/silk with a white silk lining the sleeves. To the interior is a single button scallop flap breast pocket, with a slash pocket below. The chest measures approximately 39". There is a tear to the interior lining below the neck, but otherwise the tunic is in very good condition. Included is an RAF overseas cap that is fully lined in yellow silk with a brown velvet sweat band. A manufacture stamp for "Christy’s London" is to the lining. The lining has completely pulled away from the cap along one full side, but otherwise the cap is in very fine condition.
