L022781 "Fallschirmjäger" CERAMIC TILE.

WW2 German Paratrooper Remembrance Ceramic Tile. Ceramic Tile approximately 13cm x 13cm with triangular hanging loop affixed to top of reverse to hand on a wall. Tile made for members of the Erprobungs Abteilung (Test Section) of the 11. Flieger Korps, the code name for the unit which became the 1 Parachute Regiment after the Battle of Crete in May 1941. Features an image of the Luftwaffe Fallschirmjäger Badge in silver and gold on a ceramic orange background. This unit did all of the testing of specialized equipment and parachutes for the Fallschirmjäger and played a major role in the design of equipment such as knee pads, elbow bands, ammunition bandoleers, and created procedures for dropping heavier equipment such as mortars and recoilless rifles. Mint condition.
