L019766 PILOT/AIRCREW FLIGHT GAUNTLETS.
(Flugzeugführer/Flugzeugbesatzung Handschuhe)BACKGROUND: Luftwaffe pilots and aircrew personnel utilized a wide variety of gloves and gauntlets as an integral part of the protective flight gear. The gloves/gauntlets were manufactured in wool and leather and came lined and unlined and they even had an electrically heated pattern. The gloves/gauntlets were intended to protect and keep the wearers hands warm.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Nice quality, multi-panel, Luftwaffe blue/grey kid leather construction gauntlets with long extended cuffs. Original wrist strap with single snap present on both. The back of the gauntlets each have six rows of ornamentation stitching. One of the gloves has an 8 ½ size tag. Shows age, use and period wear, but overall nice condition. Don’t see these too often anymore.
