L012274 "Friedrich Rumpelhardt" KW 1/33 PROTECTIVE WINTER FLIGHT SUIT. (Fliegerschutzanzug für Winter)

BACKGROUND: Development of protective flight uniforms and equipment began with the advent of military aircraft in WWI and continued on into the Weimar and the Third Reich eras, resulting in three distinct one-piece combination pattern flight suits being approved before WWII and worn for the duration of the war with minor modifications.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Early, heavy, one piece, coverall style, winter flight suit constructed in brushed grey velveteen fabric with a large chocolate brown fleece, lay down collar. There is a large hole/damaged section to the right pocket. Buttons and zippers look to be all complete but the two zippers at the ankles are missing the pull tabs (but still function up and down). Roughly chest size 42". Flight suit belonged to Friedrich Rumpelhardt. Nice labels.
