L006767 REGIMENT GENERAL GÖRING FLAK UNTEROFFIZIER'S SERVICE TUNIC.
(Dienstbluse)BACKGROUND: The Reichsluftwaffe was official established on February 26TH 1935 as the third branch of service of the Armed Forces. On March 9TH 1935 the formation of the new Reichsluftwaffe was announced to the foreign press and on March 16TH conscription was reintroduced for all three branches of service. On May 21ST 1935 the Reichsluftwaffe designation was altered to Luftwaffe. The standard pattern service uniform was adopted by the Luftwaffe in March 1935, and was based on the uniform worn by personnel in the Deutscher Luftsport Verband, (German Air Sports League), a civilian forerunner of the Luftwaffe, as early as 1933, with minor modifications. The 1935 pattern uniform tunic was designated Tuchrock, (Cloth tunic), and was worn open at the neck. On November 11TH 1938 a new pattern tunic was introduced that had allowances for it to be worn closed at the neck. The 1938 pattern tunic was designated Anzugrock, (Uniform tunic), and was intended to replace the 1935 pattern Tuchrock and Fliegerbluse, (Flight Blouse). The 1938 pattern tunic eventually did replace the Tuchrock, but not the Fliegerbluse. The evolution of the Regiment General Göring can be traced back to at least January 12TH 1934 when the Landes Polizei Gruppe Wecke z.b.V, (State Police Group Wecke for Special Purposes), was renamed Landes Polizei Gruppe General Göring. On September 23RD 1935 the Landes Polizei Gruppe General Göring was transferred from control of the Police to control of the Luftwaffe and was renamed, Regiment General Göring. On March 1ST 1942 the Regiment General Göring was expanded to become the Reinforced Regiment (mot.) Hermann Göring and on March 12TH 1936 the unit exchange their Police uniforms for Luftwaffe uniforms, and it was at this time that personnel were issued the distinctive white collar tabs and white branch of service piping on the shoulder straps. Regulations of January 4TH 1943 introduced additional branch of service colors for personnel of the Hermann Göring units and further regulations of April 2ND 1943 abolished the white piping on the shoulder straps and replaced it with the appropriate branch of service color. Of Note: Originally the white collar tabs of EM/NCO’s were piped in either red for Flak artillery personnel and Jäger green for all other personnel until the January 4TH 1943 regulations introduced other specific branch of service piping for Hermann Göring unit EM/NCO personnel. The Reinforced Regiment (mot.) Hermann Göring was upgrade to Brigade status on July 21ST 1942 and to Divisional status on October 17TH of that year. The Hermann Göring Division was virtually completely destroyed in North Africa in May 1943 and the survivors were reformed into the Hermann Göring Panzer Division on July 15TH 1943. On January 6TH 1944 the Hermann Göring Panzer Division was re-designated, Hermann Göring Fallschirm-Panzer Division and was used as a cadre for the formation of the Hermann Göring Fallschirm-Panzer Korps in September 1944.
