L005381 RESERVE/ADMINISTRATIVE LEUTNANT'S COLLAR TABS. (Kragenspiegel)
BACKGROUND: Originally the Luftwaffe selected ten assorted waffenfarbe colors in April 1935 to distinguish the wearers branch of service and light blue was chosen to indicate reserve status. The light blue waffenfarbe of the reserve personnel was altered to include a secondary color later the same year and on April 25TH 1944 the Luftwaffe instituted a new career for officers and certain officials, entitled, TSD, "Truppensonderdienst", (Troops Special Service). This new career used light blue waffenfarbe and did away with secondary colors as worn by Officials in the other careers.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Light blue wool collar tabs with a single hand embroidered rank "gull" above an oak-leaf half-wreath in bright silver/aluminum wire threads. The collar tabs are piped in twisted silver/aluminum cord and are mounted on buckram backings. Of Note: Light blue waffenfarbe has previously been used by the DLV, (Deutscher Luftfahrtverband) and this example would indicate the DLV rank of Kettenführer. Scarce tabs.
