L005084 CIVIL GLIDING CLASS "C" PROFICIENCY BADGE. (Segelflieger-Abzeichen)

BACKGROUND: The International Aeronautical Federation, a pre-WWII organization, awarded a series of proficiency badges to glider pilots on their successful completion of the appropriate tests and gliding trials. The "C" class certificate was awarded for the completion of a five minute solo flight without loss of altitude.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A "C" class gliding proficiency badge, comprised of a circular border to three hand embroidered "gulls," in silver wire thread, on a 50mm diameter, blue-grey wool base.
