J008287 (IJA) SERGEANT-MAJOR'S "TYPE 5" SERVICE UNIFORM SHOULDER INSIGNIA.

The "Type 5" (5th year of the Showa era, or, 1930) rank insignia were worn on the shoulders of the uniform, as that model’s stand-up collar featured the arm of service colors and regimental numerals. Red wool with a gold-colored stripe, with three, gilt-washed brass, five-pointed stars affixed along its center. Original buttons and straps to reverse.
