J000487 (IJA) CASED MEN’S RED CROSS ‘SPECIAL MEMBERSHIP’ MEDAL.

A 3cm diameter alloy medal, with a clasp to its top through which is fed a ring for its ribbon. To the obverse face of the medal is what appears to be a peacock above a Baltic cross, with olive or laurel branches arching up either side, and three-lobed flowering Paulownias to the base of each branch. To the reverse are two lines of kanji characters. Its red moire ribbon features two vertical silver stripes to either edge, a rosette and a brass hook-and-eye device is to its reverse. Comes complete with its original 9cm x 5.5 cm presentation case, ribbon pin and stickpin.
