G014260 M1903 "ERSATZ" BINOCULAR CASE. (M1903 Behälter)

BACKGROUND: Originally introduced in 1903 and used extensively until the end of the war in 1918. All Infantry commanders where equipped with a pair of binoculars.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Case for the M1903 Doppelfernrohr. Standard kidney shaped Presstoff carrying case with black fabric covering and leather trim to the edges. The case with wide leather hinge which is attached to the upper and lower sections by rivets. Both lid fasting side straps are complete (one is torn) as are the steel studs they attach to. The two vertical belt loops to its reverse are each rivetted to their upper and lower ends. Straps are very nicely marked to "Emil Busch A.G. Rathenow". There is also a metal buckle to the reverse which could be attached to the Y-straps for support. Nice case, first time I have seen an Ersatz example for the M1903.
