BACKGROUND: The Mauser C96 pistol had the distinction of being the oldest and longest used pistol in the German arsenal. It also carried the distinction of being the only pistol used with the addition of a removable wooden rifle like stock.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Lathed hardwood stock with tooled steel fittings. Attachment end has a tooled steel raised bar with press button locking clip, screwed and riveted to stock. Butt end with slightly curved recess to reverse. The butt end is attached by an inset, screwed on, metal hinge plate, with a push button release to other side of stock. Lathed and routed hollow interior. Bottom of stock near butt end has a slightly oval cut out. Nicely marked to Mauser.
