G006281 WEIMAR ERA DRK EM/NCO’S VISOR CAP.

BACKGROUND: The DRK, "Deutsches Rotes Kreuz" (German Red Cross), a voluntary civil assistance organization originally instituted in 1864, was officially acknowledged by the Geneva Convention in 1929. In December 1937 it gained status as a legally recognized organization by the NSDAP. As with other essential services in Third Reich Germany, it came under control of the NSDAP in late 1938 under the auspices of the Ministry of the Interior’s Social Welfare Organization.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Grey wool DRK EM/NCO’s visor cap. Red wool piping. Red and white enameled DRK cross to the top (stitching is broken on one side & will need to be re-striched). Typical three piece korkarden to the centerband. Black leather chinstrap affixed by two black painted buttons. One of the buttons looks re-stitched and there is a repair to a break in the leather. The vulcanfiber visor is in nice condition. Interior of the cap is fully lined. Makers mark is present. Nice complete Alkor sweatband. Roughly a size 57. Really in nice condition with only a few very minor nips to the wool.
