G004794 SONDERFÜHRER ZUGFÜHRER'S SHOULDER BOARDS.  (Schulterstücke) 

The Army Mobilization order of March 1937 established groups of Sonderführer, (Specialist Leaders), to be activated on mobilization of the army, due to a lack of specifically trained Officer’s and NCO’s. The Sonderführer were drawn from non-military professional personnel with specific skills and training to serve in Staff, Construction, Medical and other assorted specialist position. Sonderführer personnel wore the uniforms of the unit they were attached to with specific collar and shoulder insignia to denote their positions. 

Slip on shoulder boards of matte silver/aluminum braid with evenly spaced "V"s in the national tri-colors of black, white and red, with blue/grey wool waffenfarbe. Boards are in good condition but one has a couple of moth nips to blue/grey wool waffenfarbe resulting in the cardboard underlay being visible. Boards signify the Sonderführer position of Zugführer, equivalent to the rank of Leutnant. Scarce shoulder boards.
