BACKGROUND: A common practice in Europe that continues to this day, is the issue of a remembrance card on the death of a family member. These would be distributed to friends and family as a memorial item.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Light weight, bi-fold, remembrance card with printed script and a close-up, black and white photograph of Heinrich Gamsjäger whose date of death is listed as April 30, 1944, at the age of 34, on the Eastern Front. He was the recipient of the Infantry Badge, War Merit Cross 2nd class, Russian Front Medal and a Black Wound Badge. The card is in overall good condition with the expected light age yellowing.
