H044789 INFANTRY HAUPTMANN'S OLD STYLE SERVICE TUNIC. (Dienstrock Alter Art)

BACKGROUND: The old style service tunic was introduced for wear in the Reichswehr during the short lived Weimar era, and was replaced with the field blouse in the Third Reich, with an unspecified wearing out period.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Nice quality, field-grey wool construction tunic with a subtle whipcord weave. The tunic features a five button front closure with dual metal hooks and eyes at the neck. The edge of the left front closure panel is fully trimmed in white wool waffenfarbe while the edge of the right front closure panel has the white wool waffenfarbe running from the waistline to the bottom of the tail skirt. The tunic features two pleated patch breast pockets and two pleated patch hip pockets. Very nice officer eagle with original stitching to the tunic. Award loops for three breast badges and a ribbon bar. The straight cut, non-adjustable, sleeves have deep, fold back French cuffs which are stitched in the upright position at both the inner and outer sleeve seams. The tunic has sewn on Hauptman’s boards (look to be period rank upgraded as they have been replaced at some point). The tunic has a lay down, blue/green badge cloth collar. Nice original officer collar tabs with original stitching to the tunic. The interior of the tunic is fully lined in rayon with off white striped sleeves. The buttons are all the silver washed, pebbled, magnetic sheet metal type and appear to have their original stitching. The tunic is roughly size 36" chest. Decent example.
