H026973 DOCUMENT GROUPING. A grouping of seven documents addressed to "Fräulein Edeltraud Artelhuber of Linz/Donau in reference to her husband possibly being a prisoner of war in Russia (?). One typewritten letter is from the "Wehrmacht Information Office for Prisoners of War and Warriors Losses the High Command of the Armed Forces", while another letter translates roughly with a subject line of "Messaging to the USSR; Your letter to Colonel General Heitz" and with an opening paragraph of "Since late 1942, sporadic letters and postcards of missing German soldiers from the Soviet Union have been received in different ways. Since these messages almost identical information about the condition of the missing persons are made, the suspicion is justified that the maps had to be written under duress and apparently intended to serve hostile propaganda." The documents range in date from 1943-1945 and have varying degrees of usage, wear and yellowing. Worthy of further research.
