H026795 6 X 30 POWER ISSUE FIELD BINOCULAR CASE. (Behälter für Doppelfernrohr)

BACKGROUND: The German army used a wide variety of optical enhancement items with the 6 x 30 power, (6 power magnification with a 30mm diameter objective lens), binoculars being the standard issue optics utilized by all branches of service. Although the 6 x 30 power binoculars were the standard issue, specialized personnel such as Artillery observers, Reconnaissance personnel, Searchlight personnel, etc., required stronger optics and assorted larger power binoculars were issued to these specialized personnel on a limited basis. When issued the binoculars came with a variety of assorted accessories which included specific carrying cases, among other items.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Standard issue, kidney shaped, molded black bakelite construction binocular carrying case with sheet metal, steel, aluminum and blackened leather fittings. The roughly, 14cm tall, 18cm wide, 8cm thick, tapering case features a fold back, top lid with an extruding, horizontal, staggered, internal bar hinge to the reverse and a rivetted on, vertical, spring loaded, magnetic sheet metal closure clip. Leather pull tab is missing from the clip. The sides of the case each have a rivetted on, black painted, "T" shaped arm near the top edges with an inserted "D" ring designed for the shoulder carrying strap. The carrying strap is absent. The reverse leather belt loops are also missing. Top inside padding is missing from the lid. Case is well marked with an embossed DIN Deutsche Industrie Norm, (German Industry Standard), logo.
