H017484 CAVALRY "Kavallerie-Schützen-Regiment 7" OBERFELDWEBEL'S, OLD STYLE SERVICE UNIFORM. (Dienstrock Alter Art)

BACKGROUND: The old style service tunic was introduced for wear in the Reichswehr during the short lived Weimar era, and was replaced with the field blouse in the Third Reich, with an unspecified wearing out period.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Kavallerie-Schützen-Regiment 7, which was initially part of the 2. leichte Division (later 7. Panzer-Division). Very nice quality, field-grey wool construction tunic with a subtle whipcord weave. The tunic features an eight button front closure with dual metal hooks and eyes at the neck. The edge of the left front closure panel is fully trimmed in golden yellow wool waffenfarbe while the edge of the right front closure panel has the golden yellow waffenfarbe running from the waistline to the bottom of the tail skirt. The tunic features two pleated patch breast pockets and two diagonally angled slash hip pockets, all with scalloped button down flaps. The right breast has a Officer’s quality hand embroidered breast eagle. The eagle is neatly handstitched to the tunic. Original awards loops for three badges and one ribbon bar to the left breast. EK2 ribbon hand stitched in place. Original motor transport trade badge to the lower right sleeve. The straight cut, non-adjustable, sleeves have deep, fold back French cuffs which are stitched in the upright position at both the inner and outer sleeve seams. The reverse of the tunic has a central, vertical, tail skirt vent with two belt ramp buttons situated at its top edge. The tunic has sewn on shoulder straps of blue/green badge cloth with golden yellow waffenfarbe. The shoulder straps feature bright NCO’s tress to all the outside edges and two rank pips, unit number "7" and the letter "S" for Kavallerie-Schützen-Regiment 7. The tunic has a lay down, blue/green badge cloth collar with the typical zig-zag reinforcement stitching to the reverse. The forward edge of the collar is trimmed in bright NCO’s tress and features machine woven collar tab litzen in woven silver with interwoven golden yellow branch of service and center stripes. Tabs are hand stitched to the collar. The interior of the tunic is fully lined in a grey rayon blend fabric with off white striped sleeves. The buttons are all the silver washed, pebbled, magnetic sheet metal type and all appear to have their original stitching. The only exception to this are the two lower pocket button which has been replaced and the other has come loose (I placed it inside the pocket for the new owner). The tunic is roughly size 34-36" chest. Comes with its original size 30", golden yellow piped, trousers. Shows the expected period use and wear but overall nice condition. Nice set.
