H007193 EM/NCO'S "T" SHAPED CAP INSIGNIA. (Mützen Abzeichen)

BACKGROUND: The German army originally adopted a slightly modified version of the NSDAP’s national eagle by order on February 17TH 1934, with instructions to have it applied to all steel helmets, visor caps, and tunics by May 1ST 1934. Regulations followed on October 30TH 1935 that stipulated the national eagle was also to be applied to all field caps. This "T" form insignia was first used circa 1936, with the eagle being white, which was later changed to grey circa 1939. This "T" form insignia was most commonly worn on the Mountain and the M43 field caps.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Machine woven national eagle in matte mouse grey threads, positioned above a national tri-color cockade, on a woven field-grey rayon, "T" formed base. The insignia has sections of its original field-grey rayon factory roll folded to the reverse. The insignia was cut directly from an M43 cap and comes complete with the section of cap that it was removed from. Nice!
