DH133 8CM M34 HEAVY MORTAR AMMO CASE. (Granatewerfer M34 Kasten) 14 1/2" x 11" x 4" wooden case for the 8cm M34 mortar ammo. Nicely constructed case with dove tailed corner joints. Top lid has an internal wooden dowel hinge to the reverse and a metal pressure closure clip to the obverse. Two wooden slats are nailed to the closure clip end and secures a rope carrying handle. Handle is intact. Top lid has faint black stenciled script that appears to be, "Mun. 8cm. Gr. W 34" (8cm Munition Heavy Mortar M34), and "Heeres Munition Gesgew.", (Army Munitions Total weight). Front of case has remnants of a printed contents decal with date, "24.3.1944.".Natural wood interior has two wood securing slats with three semi-circular cut-outs to each. The interior top lid has the same printed contents decal as on the exterior. The case would have contained three shells for the 8cm Heavy Mortar M34.
